Fashion. Style. It all sounds so sweet and how can you not love a nice outfit or that new season from your favorite designer? Fashion gives us that extra push to go out to our favorite lounge, restaurant, party, you name it, we do it! As much as we love all of the perks that come with fashion; have you ever thought what might be the best part behind all of this? What exactly IS ‘Fashion Week’? Where’d it come from? Who came up with this wonderful idea?
Did you know that the first fashion week ever began in 1903 with a New York City shop called Ehrich Brothers? Their show was launched to lure middle-class women into their stores. After seeing the attention that the show came with, many others started shows of their own. Paris joined the fashion week world in 1973, it was organized by Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear, and Men’s Fashion.
From 1903 to 2019 there have been over 200 fashion week events all over the world. The Big 4 fashion capitals are New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Fashion plays a big role in the life of millions of us and with the origin of our we see why it will only continue to grow with us which brings a load of excitement.
